MEMO REGARDING SATMI’S RESPONSE TO ADDRESS THE COVID – `19 CRISIS
March 26, 2020
To SATMI Family:
Greetings!
In the light of the recent events relative to COVID 19 it is important that we start looking into aspects that truly affect our academic and administrative life in SATMI. Here are some of the actions we are currently taking:
1. Regarding the Academic concerns: I have asked Ms. Pamela Mae Generalla, our Registrar to be in touch with ADDU if they have adjustments to propose regarding classes resumption or, if not, regarding how to manage the missing class days to complete the semester. This matter is related to the question of how to manage the grading of our students without the finals. While this is a matter we can locally decide, it is good to still base our future actions in line with the direction ADDU can provide us. I also instructed our Registrar to regularly update me on what ADDU is doing on the matter of COVID 19 and its impact to our Institute.
2. Regarding the preparation for mission immersion. I suggest that it goes ahead. I will write a
Letter to the formators that since the matter is something that will be taking effect sometime in May, the preparation will still be of value, if things settle down. In this regard, Ate Po and Bro Karl can take the lead role in the mission immersion preparation.
3. Regarding all meetings scheduled. All meetings are considered cancelled that would include, I suppose, the Board Meeting. When those meetings will happen is to be decided still.
4. Regarding the MA defense and Kenneth’s synthesis paper defense. These too are cancelled for obvious reasons.
5. Regarding the staff and their work. We wait for what ADDU decides or what the city government will tell us later. Currently, we follow the order of regular work days as ADDU practices. I am open to make adjustments if DMRC through Fr. Edilberto Cepe, C.Ss.R. will decide regarding work adjustments. If there is any decision in that regard, we will follow the DRMC lead.
In all of these, please do take care of yourselves there. I will be in continuous communication with you regarding updates and courses of action that need to be taken still.
For the meantime, let us continue to pray that this crisis will pass the country and the world soon.
My fondest regards to all.
Fr. Carlos Ronquillo, C.Ss.R.
