On February 21, 2024, the class of Th 202 “Dialogue And With Other Religion”, visited the Muslim community at Masjid Salaam in Ma-a, Davao City. Prof. Sultan U. Ubpon, Chair of the Islamic Studies Department of Ateneo de Davao University, warmly welcomed the class. Along with him were some community members, both young and adults. The student’s initial fear before visiting this community was later replaced by gratitude and respect as both the class and the Islamic community shared the details and teachings of their respective faiths through respectful dialogue and a healthy exchange of questions and answers. The host community generously allowed the class to witness some moments of their prayer time and explained several practical implications of their doctrine. Overall, this encounter was enriching for both the class and the community.
