Mission Preparation

In preparation for their upcoming mission immersion this year, the students of the St. Alphonsus Theological and Mission Institute participated in a formative mission immersion seminar* held from May 04 to 08, 2026, aimed at deepening their missionary consciousness and preparing them for future pastoral engagements in the life and mission of the Church.

The seminar gathered religious students, namely Br. Michael Orquejo, C.Ss.R, Br. Mark Jimuel Castillo, C.Ss.R, Br. Daniel Vu, C.Ss.R, Br. Doan Paul Thuc, C.Ss.R, Br. Jeric Cabrera, C.Ss.R, Br. Prasong Teminpana, C.Ss.R, Br. Sukrit Lertlanglai, C.Ss.R, Br. Brendan Deboque, OFM, Br. Gilbert B. Lumayag, OFM, and Br. Joseph Riovey Jusay, OFM, who engaged in various discussions and formation activities designed to cultivate missionary awareness and pastoral sensitivity.
The five-day seminar emphasized the importance of exposing students to concrete mission experiences while harnessing insights gained from both academic learning and formation engagements. Through reflective sessions, pastoral orientation, and communal dialogue, the participants were invited to integrate theological knowledge with lived missionary realities, fostering personal growth and a deeper commitment to evangelization.
More importantly, the program sought to imbibe in the students the zeal of mission by helping them recognize that missionary formation is not merely an academic requirement but an essential dimension of religious and ecclesial life. As they prepare for their forthcoming immersion experiences, the seminar served as a venue for deepening their missionary spirit and cultivating sustaining values that will guide them in their future ministry.

The Mission Immersion Seminar also highlighted the vision of forming ministers who are competent in ministry, grounded in character, and committed to the mission entrusted to them, equipping future pastoral workers to respond generously and effectively to the needs of the Church and society.
As the Church continues its missionary mandate, initiatives such as this seminar reaffirm SATMI’s commitment to holistic formation, forming individuals who are intellectually prepared, spiritually grounded, and pastorally equipped to proclaim the Gospel in diverse missionary contexts.
