THEOLOGICAL METHODS IN THE PHILIPPINE CONTEXT FROM 2010-2020: A HISTORICO-THEOLOGICAL EXPOSITION
by ROAWIE L. QUIMBA, PhD, RN
ABSTRACT
This study explores the theological methods of the journal articles from LANDAS, Philippiniana Sacra, MST Review, and HAPAG from 2010-2020. Through a systematic historical and theological analysis and exposition, it presents the originality and diversity of theological methods used in the various disciplines of Theology and in conversation with other academic disciplines with a deliberate dedication towards fides quaerens intellectum.
The study culminates in highlighting the three dominant theological methods used in the select journals from 2010-2020, namely: Theological Reflection, Contextual Reading, and Critical Reading, and in highlighting the crucial data of actors and producers of theological knowledge in the Philippines in that same decade.
Overall, this original study creates a baseline data that could serve as an evidence of the ongoing dynamic theological discourse in the country, pointing to the Philippines as one of the powerhouse in theological knowledge of Asia.
