St. Alphonsus Theological and Mission Institute again joined the second wave of Misyon: Duyog-ambit Padulong sa Paglaum (Mission as Pilgrimage toward a Shared Hope) in Sitio San Isidro, Malasila, Makilala, North Cotabato.
SATMI has consistently committed itself to respond to emergency and urgent situations brought about by natural and human-made disasters and calamities. Also, the Institute believes that mission in a disaster context the giving of relief goods is not the main focus. While this is an important element given the urgency of the situation, the role of religious missionaries is more in the healing of memories. The traumatic experiences of people need to be brought into the open, understood and appreciated if healing were to happen to their lives. This is an area within the competence of the religious in general by virtue of their formative and pastoral experiences.
